So you've persevered, really focused and finally completed your website and are having a wonderful time at the launch party. Business associates, friends and family are all telling you how good the website looks. "Way to go Mark, we knew you could do it!" Congrats all around. You are really feeling good about your team's accomplishments and how well everyone pulled together on this project and met the objective and goals that we laid out several months ago but as any business owner understands this euphoric feeling won't last long plus out of the corner of your eye you can see Henry, the fun police approaching. Turns out that Henry has some comments about the website, things that will improve it he says. You quietly moan under your breath as Henry launches what feels like a fifteen minute verbal assault on how the website would be better if we made a few changes here and there. He has some thoughts and ideas he would like to show me. Some really important stuff he says.
Henry is the guy that doesn't say anything in the meetings and waits until after the meeting is over and everyone else has gone back to their daily tasks and I am left putting away the projector and getting the conference room ready for the next meeting to say what he thinks. Sometimes he doesn't say anything until days later and this happens to be one of those times. The thing about Henry is that as frustrating as his methods can be, Henry is usually correct and this is definitely one of those times. So now you need to make the changes to your previously perfect website and with some regret first thing Monday morning pick up the phone and call Doug at Straightline. I mean you enjoy talking with Doug, he's a great guy and all but he is also the guy that you told in no uncertain terms that you didn't need a website maintenance agreement because the website turned out great and that you couldn't possibly see needing to change anything. I really hate that guy right now. "No problem" Doug says as you can hear him grinning on the other end of the line. "Send over the document and we'll get the changes made right away".
Website Maintenance covers the incidental work that must be done when changes happen. Even the smallest things require time for someone to deal with them and this time is covered under the Website Maintenance Agreement.
